Post gallbladder surgery excerpt from a letter dated February 20, 1995 ...on the physical level [following my gallbladder surgery] all goes well, very well. I am almost back to normal. I can't lift or do heavy exercises, but otherwise I am up and about, I walk, I drive, I am awake, etc. etc. You know--I do what I was doing before the surgery. Once in a while, it is true, I realize I am kind of weak or spacey and then I slow down a little, look in the mirror, and ask, Who [are] you kidding? Then I laugh and take a short nap and dream of open fields full of blowing daisies....
