Period of Transition
excerpt from a letter postmarked December 22, 1986
...I have just finished teaching at state
for the year. I teach there every fall semester.
My wife [Savya] stayed up here this time. That meant I
went down to Long Beach and rented a small apartment
and lived there four days a week, then came back up
here for a long weekend. That meant a lot of driving,
and it also meant that I had to prepare my own meals,
do all my own chores as well as teach. I loved it!
I really enjoyed looking after myself, but it
took all kinds of time. Hence, no letters. I didn't
write to anyone. I apologize and will try to do better
for the winter and spring and summer seasons coming
up....
