Rupert
Brooke
(1887-1915)
Born in
Rugby, Warwickshire, England, Rupert Brooke was educated at King's
College, University of Cambridge. During World War I, Brooke was
commissioned in the British Royal Naval Division, fighting with
them at Antwerp in 1914. He died of blood poisoning en route to
Gallipoli. Poems, his first collection of poems, was published
in 1911. Personal experiences of his visit to the United States
and Canada are detailed in Letters from America, published
in 1916.
